  • IRC Network Rules
    • The Rules
    • Consequences for breaking these rules
      • On the first offence : a warning (this can be given in channel, /msg or by /kill with a descriptive reason)
      • On subsequent offences : a ban from the network (ban length at least 1h, at most 150d) which increases on each subsequent offence.
      • Very serious offences such as cracking and DoS always get a ban of at least one month, even for the first offence.
      • Serious abuse of shell services also gets the offender added to the SAD, and their details sent to all admins on SN.
  • IRC Server Rules
    • You must follow the rules stated in the motd of the server you are connected to.
    • If you do not do this, the server admin may ban you from their server.
  • IRC Operator Rules
    • Network bans and global kills (akills, sglines, etc) may be used *only* for violation of network rules.
    • Local bans and local kills (klines, etc) may be used for enforcing the rules stated in the server's MOTD.
    • /connect and /squit should only be used when necessary for network maintenance.
    • Server admins must give advance notice of their server going down where possible.
    • Irc operators must NOT interfere in channels (via modehacking, overriding bans, or otherwise) unless they are required to do so in order to protect the network from a known security threat.
    • Irc operators must act professionally and so that they give a good impression of SN.
